Registered Nurse - Quality and Education Coordinator

The Registered Nurse - Quality and Education Coordinator provides leadership that is characterized by responsibility and accountability for programs in Long Term Care. The incumbent is expected to work as a vital team member in collaboration with the Geriatrics and Extended Care Leadership and the ancillary departments to provide excellent quality patient care by reviewing, leading, coordinating positive quality outcomes.

The RN Quality and Education Coordinator (QEC), functions as the leader for the coordination of quality improvement and educational needs across all Community Living Centers (CLC), as delegated by the Chief Nurse Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC). This position demonstrates performance and leadership which facilitates delivery of quality nursing care for a specified group of patients through the use of the nursing process and works effectively with all levels of staff to include collaborative efforts with other health professionals. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide leadership in improving patient care, maintaining standards of care, and directing and teaching other personnel in a variety of settings.
• Responsible for ensuring positive outcomes of Long-Term Care resident's programs and projects assigned by the Chief Nurse GEC.
• Use quality indicators and benchmarks for improving system processes, perform onsite reviews regarding quality issues, and then evaluate these reviews with the GEC Leadership.
• Identify useful measures that can be acted on to improve outcomes and processes, to include reviewing data, gathering and compiling quality improvement reports, developing and implementing corrective action plans, recommending improvements to Geriatric Extended Care Leadership, and developing data outcome reports.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including medical staff, clinical, and administrative services in reviewing and writing policy /protocols and in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
