Job Description
Analyzes present and future system needs of customers and makes recommendations on options and alternatives for implementing applications and systems or educational/operational workflows and processes.
Participates in determining requirements for new computer applications and systems and evaluating vendor responses. Develops requirements document/matrix & test plans. Conducts testing.
Provides ongoing support, follow up and maintenance to existing applications and systems or clinical/operational workflows. This includes Incident Management & Resolution as well as Problem Management & Resolution.
Assumes lead staff responsibilities to ensure that development and implementation objectives are met.
Coordinates the escalation and resolution of software processing problems with vendor support specialists.
Acts as project manager for small, medium and large projects, following standard PM methodology. This includes creating/maintaining necessary artifacts. This position is currently 100% telework/remote and may include remote work long-term. Candidate must be able to work from home full-time initially.
Department Overview
The Senior Systems/Applications Analyst Sr. (SAA. Sr.) is responsible for the analysis, design, and support of highly complex computer applications and systems. This classification provides expertise for a broad variety of systems and applications or academic/operational workflows. The Senior Systems/Applications Analyst must be innovative and creative in solving problems and meeting objectives promptly. This classification is responsible for determining requirements for new computer systems and evaluating vendor responses, providing consultation to others, training staff and customers, and acting as lead analyst. Project management is another key role for the SAA, Sr. to ensure all projects are properly submitted, analyzed and the standard PM methodology is followed to ensure successful completion of a project. The System Application Analyst, Sr:- Meets with customers and is responsible for the overall analysis, requirements gathering and support of various complex computer applications and systems and/or educational/operational workflows relating to the use and optimization of the Institutional Student Information System (Banner).
- Supports and maintains Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, making them available for the academic stakeholders at the University.
- Proficient in Cognos reporting with the Ellucian Operational Data Store (ODS).
- Supports all academic departments to implement third party applications to support their business needs according to ITG standards. This includes consultations, vendor engagement, helping with security reviews and advising departments on integrating new applications into the ITG ecosystem.
- Works closely with the Manager and Director on proposed projects to help determine scope and budget of the work.
- Acts as the project manager on small, medium, and large projects supported by the team following standardized project management methodology.
- Has excellent writing skills to convey complex thoughts and information to non-technical stakeholders in a way they can comprehend and react to.

Required Qualifications
Education/Experience: Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):- Proficiency in the use of the Atlassian Suite, including:
- Confluence
- Insight
- Jira
- Proficiency in Office 365 productivity applications.
- Proficiency in the use of Smartsheet to create, manage and collect data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Ability to craft complex communications quickly, accurately, formatted appropriate for the audience for which it is intended. Ability to change writing styles to accommodate diverse users.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:- Six years relevant experience & proficiency with the following products at a complex academic institution:
- Ellucian Banner modules: Financial Aid, Student, General, SSB (Student and Faculty), Student AR
- Proficiency with Ellucian products:
- Action Item Processing
- Solutions Manager
- DegreeWorks
- ODS
- Proficiency in using Ellucian’s Customer Support Center to log cases and research information.
- Three years experience using PMI (Project Management Institute) based project management methodology.
- Relevant experience working closely with software vendors to successfully collaborate and implement new software.
- Relevant experience coordinating and facilitating project steering committee work.
- Three years relevant experience conducting requirements gathering and scoping of complex projects with multiple customer groups.
- Three years relevant experience learning new software, reading complex technical documentation, and providing training to end users.
- Five years relevant experience creating role appropriate documentation for end users of custom functionality developed by the IT team.
