CAT/MRI Technician-MSH- Full Time - Days

The CAT/MRI Technician operates Computed Tomography (CT) scanner or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to capture images to aid in patient diagnoses. Performs basic and moderately complex MRI/CAT scans according to established protocols.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Performs basic and moderately complex MRI/CAT scans according to established protocols.
- Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Adheres to established infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; processing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
- Evaluates images prior to the release of patient to ensure quality.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (including the completion and verification of exams.
- Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining regulatory CME requirements. Attends educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Completes yearly Age Specific Competency.
- Performs other related duties.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Radiology Program
- 5+ years’ experience as a CT/MRI technician
- N.Y. State Dept. of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist;
- All CT/MRI technologists are required to be DOH certified to inject iv contrast.
- Certified to inject technologists must be able to complete injection tasks as to protocol.
- Maintains DOH licensing to include certification of injection, and BLS certification. Must notify supervisor if there is a lapse in either.
- Using EPIC the technologist documents lab results as needed or asked as a task.
- (Injection certification enables one to be compensated to inject and requires the ability to access labs using Epic access. The documentation of lab results can be a task of an injection certified technologist in and of itself).

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $40.35 - $45.87 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
