Job Description
Responsibilities

The Department of Medicine is looking for a motivated Staff Research Associate I to study the neural control of the heart in large animals using the latest techniques in cardiac electrophysiology and neuroscience. In this role, you will support experiments in animal models involving: (1) surgical dissection; (2) obtaining hemodynamic, cardiac electrophysiological, and neural data and tissues; and (3) molecular biological analysis of tissues. You will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, and assist in Immunohistochemical staining of tissues and assist with collecting samples from animal experiments. You will leverage techniques to help with large animal surgery, tissue processing and clearing, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, microscopy, and data analysis.

Target hourly rate: $24.88-$29.67

Qualifications

Required:
•Must be able to analyze neuronal electrophysiological data using pClamp Clampfit software
•Must be able to quantify neuronal morphometrics using Neurolucida3D software
•Must have experience with immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy
•Skills to perform technical procedures in a timely and accurate manner
•Demonstrated ability to work well with others
•Ability to work on routine assignments with minimal supervision
•BS degree in biochemistry, physiology, biology or equivalent
•Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records
•Skills in animal handling and surgical procedures

Preferred:
•Skills in preparing buffers, solutions, and reagents
•Skill to perform surgical procedures in a lab setting on animals
