UM Capital Region, a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, is looking for a Nurse Practitioner, Per Diem, for the Sickle Cell Infusion Clinic to meet increasing clinical demand at UM Prince George’s Hospital Medical Center located in its new state-of-the-art facility in Largo, MD.
Job Specifics:
- The Nurse Practitioner, sickle cell provides care to an underserved population of patients.
- The role’s purpose is to bridge the gap of social injustices in health care through our flagship comprehensive care center.
- This unique role provides care to patients in the inpatient setting, in an urgent care setting, and for well-health maintenance visits.

Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George’s County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space will allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George’s County residents.
Current Maryland license in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. National Certification within the respective area of responsibility. NPI, DEA, and CDS are required. Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider(BLS-HCP) Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) is required. Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program and appropriate certification, including approved attestation on file at the appropriate Maryland Board.
Other Required Attributes 1. Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty. 2. Ability to demonstrate competency in knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age-specific needs. 3. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters. Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills. 4. Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training. 5. Maintains updated immunizations as recommended per practice area. 6. Maintains all licensure, certification and credentialing, and competencies required to perform the job and maintain clinical appointments.
