Job Description

UHS SoCal Medical Educational Consortium is seeking a program director for our ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency program based at Southwest Healthcare in southwest Riverside County. This is a unique opportunity to lead and grow a recently established, robust surgical residency program in an attractive southern California location. And to make a difference by training new physicians and partnering in our mission of delivering the highest quality of care and positive outcomes to patients, families, and the community.

Opportunity highlights:

  • Program recently established and has PGY1-3 GS residents plus a TY class
  • Program has full faculty in place including APD
  • Position is .3 FTE as PD, with remainder in clinical practice with well-established, local surgical group

Position requirements:

  • Current board certification by the ABS
  • Clear, active California medical license with clean background and board history
  • REQUIRED: 3+ years of current or very recent PD, APD, and/or Core faculty administrative experience in an accredited surgical GME program
  • Demonstrated ability as a leader, educator, and clinician 
  • Recent history of scholarly activities/research
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills

Facility(s): Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital, an acute care facility and Level II trauma center in Wildomar/Murrieta, serves as the primary training site. Inland Valley Hospital is southwest Riverside County’s only trauma center, averaging 50,000 ED visits annually and serving as the county-designated Paramedic Base Station. Over 4,000 surgeries are performed each year at IVH including a wide range of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures in technologically advanced operating rooms. The hospital is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and the Bariatric Center is certified as Comprehensive by MBSAQIP. Other training sites include Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital, Temecula Valley Hospital, and Corona Regional Medical Center.
